A surprisingly fun textbook!

I had to purchase this book for a course in Network Security. I braced myself for a book that was extremely dull and technical. I could not have been more pleased to be proven wrong!
The authors insert humor and relatable material in the text. They also have "check your knowledge" questions at the end of each section within a chapter. This is great for someone like me who is new to the tech world and needs to make sure they are understanding the material.
Overall, I enjoyed it and this will be one textbook I am keeping!

Needs deeper explanations for a textbook

I had to purchase this book for a class on business networks. The book does a horrible job of explaining the content, and it is almost universal in my class that students feel that way. There are two that feel it is fine, but they already work in the networking field and are just formalizing some education.
This is not to say it has worthless content, it just doesn't fully develop or explain a fair amount of the content, it stays very cursory.
That it has these types of issues and is in it's 9th edition speaks volumes about the college book market. The book cost $130 and should really sell for no more than $15.

It really is worth the price

I reluctantly bought this book for a class I'm taking and was concerned about the price. Now that I've read it I think it is one of the best textbooks that I've ever owned. It is engaging and not dull. The exercises and questions helped with both learning the material and making it relative to real world applications. This book will have a permanent place in my reference library.
