A very enjoyable book!

A story that takes place In Forks, Washington. Yes, it is connected to the Twilight series of books and movies but only in a small part where the connection is briefly mentioned. Amber and her mother move to Forks. The mother has some emotional problems and is in a relationship with the town's deputy. Amber is in high school and drives herself there in her old car. It's often raining and foggy but the sun does come out and shines. She senses something sinister and dark but doesn't know what that is. She shakes off these feelings when they descend upon her. She soon meets two brothers Vincent and Viktor. They are both very attractive and she is drawn to both of them. But there is something off about them and all the kids she sees and meets at school. There seems to be something dark and sinister about the whole town. Even so, she makes friends with another girl who was hostile at first. That's another thing Amber finds strange, students and people in the community asking her who's side she is on or who does she like best. This doesn't make sense to her. At one point she goes on a Twilight Tour with Glinda, Vincent and Viktor where she meets an Quileute boy who calls himself Lucky while on the La Push part of the tour. Things seem to get more dark and sinister and she can't understand why. Amber is attacked at a party by two boys, one she was getting to know who say they are trying to save her from them. Soon enough she realizes the 'Them' are vampires. She doesn't believe them. She meets up with Lucky again when she goes on a tour by herself and he tells her vampires are real. She soon realizes that they were telling the truth and that Viktor is one of the vampires. I found this to be a very readable and enjoyable book.

Not for me...

This borders on plagiarism of The Twilight Series. As an over 30 who loved that series, I am astonished this was even published. Setting that aside, the characters all seem juvenile, even the mother (especially the mother). Amber, the main character, can't decide who she likes from one day to the next. This may be a decent book for young teens as there is a lot of dialogue, but I can't recommend it to anyone else.

This book was funny to me. I can only imagine living in Forks after the whole twilight thing. I am sure it is much as this book describes it. And makes you ask what if everything in twilight were based on a true story
